MY SERVICES

Individual Therapy LA

Individual Therapy

As a licensed psychologist, I follow a strict Code of Ethics outlined by the Board of Psychology. The therapeutic process goes deeper into the life of the client. It’s a joint process in which the client and therapist create goals to inspire change, growth, and improve quality of life. Therapy can take a long or short-term approach depending on what is being presented by the client.

DEPRESSION

Depression is complex and can be driven by a combination of things, including medical, emotional, and genetic factors, as well as environmental, situational, and even seasonal issues.

I provide support in exploring the root of what you are feeling and help you gain the coping strategies needed to overcome your concerns.

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms below it might be time to seek help before your feelings worsen.

  • Feelings of sadness

  • Anger or frustration

  • Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities, such as sex, hobbies or sports

  • Sleep disturbances such as sleeping too much or too little

  • Lack of energy

  • Changes in appetite

  • Trouble concentrating or remembering things

  • Feelings of worthlessness, guilt or self-blame

  • Frequent or recurrent thoughts of death, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts, or suicide

  • Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches

Stress and Anxiety

Feeling anxious from time to time is a normal part of life. However when the anxiety kicks in more days than not it might be time to intervene. I use well-researched interventions to help give you the tools you need to overcome stress and anxiety.

  • Feeling nervous, restless or tense

  • Having a sense of impending danger, panic or doom

  • Having an increased heart rate

  • Breathing rapidly (hyperventilation)

  • Sweating

  • Trembling

  • Feeling weak or tired

  • Trouble concentrating or thinking about anything other than the present worry

  • Having trouble sleeping

  • Experiencing gastrointestinal (GI) problems

  • Having difficulty controlling worry

  • Having the urge to avoid things that trigger anxiety

Trauma

Trauma is an emotional or physical response to an event that a person finds highly stressful. However, not everyone who experiences a stressful event will develop trauma.

Trauma can include witnessing or experiencing things such as:

  • harassment

  • racism, racial bias or exposure to racist abuse in media

  • bullying

  • physical, psychological, or sexual abuse

  • sexual assault

  • traffic collision

  • childbirth

  • life-threatening illnesses

  • sudden loss of a loved one

  • been attacked

  • war

Trauma may cause you to feel overwhelmed, helpless, shocked, or have difficulty processing your experience both immediately or long after the stressful event.

As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I use a step-by-step framework for treating the emotional and physical symptoms of trauma.

Couple's Counselling LA

Couple’s Counseling

Through counseling, I help couples gain insight into their relationship. Within counseling, I provide the couple with tools to resolve conflict, improve communication, and increase relationship satisfaction.

Coaching

Coaching takes a more future-oriented, short-term approach. I recommend coaching for clients who want to target a specific area or behavior in their life by offering new approaches and solutions to overcoming that stressor. This target issue is not a mental health diagnosis, rather an area in which you want to grow or a circumstance you want to address. There is no diagnosis or focus on mental health issues in coaching.
